Why is it so difficult to say sorry? The IGP says that the police will not apologies to the parents of school boy Aminulrasyid Amzah who was shot dead by the police late last month in Shah Alam. The parents of Aminulrasyid has demanded an apology from the police for alleging that Aminulrasyid was a suspected criminal, and that the IGP has refused to apologies citing that it could have legal implication, since the case is now with the courts.
Please forgive my ignorance and not being a lawyer, I do not understand what does the IGP means that by apologizing, they are legal implication. Is the IGP implying that by saying sorry, the police are deemed to have admitted to the murder? Or by saying sorry, it gives the parents of Aminulrasyid an advantage in court to prosecute the police for alleged murder? Or by saying sorry, the IGP has shamed the entire police force by giving in to the demands of an aggrieved mother?
My understanding of the word SORRY, I think differs from that of the IGP. As a child, my parents (and I believe that of the parents of the IGP) taught me to say sorry for every mistake that I make, regardless of whether the mistake was made deliberately or otherwise. I am told that saying sorry is to show humbleness, and an act of showing remorse. It does not really matter the magnitude of the mistake made, and how slighted the person can be. But by saying sorry upon realizing that a mistake has been made to someone, any normal person would have opened their hearts and willingly accept the apology.
I think the IGP is just too stubborn and has little remorse for the inadvertent failure of his own people. He seems not having the feeling of guilt that his men has committed a grievous mistake (rightfully or wrongfully), and that the mother of the dead victim has lost a dear son. Mind you, some mothers would go berserk upon losing someone dear, what more if being shot by the police.
The IGP opted to defend his men (rightfully or wrongfully) for an act that most would consider it too excessive. The gun is certainly not a toy. It kills and the user must know this. Letting loose a shot, or several shots deliberately aim at someone is an act intended to cause hurt or at worse death to someone. The question that I would like to pose is whether shooting is the only option to the policeman, when he suspects a criminal. Even if a crime has occurred, is shooting the criminal dead the correct cause of action? What if the crime is just stealing food from a food stall? Is death the only sentence befitting the crime of stealing food? I really do not know, but I think the policeman need to be more conscious and cautious of his action, and that what he does is not deemed too excessive. I think, this is where most policeman have failed, and that failure I presume lies in their training i.e. to be thoroughly trained to recognise how and what to act within the bounds of their powers.
By not willing to apologies, I hope the IGP has not set a bad precedence to the younger generation of police officers and ranks where the word sorry has little meaning and value. I hope too that our children and grandchildren do not take the example of the IGP where saying SORRY, seems no longer a word of humility.
CRUSADE AGAINST CORRUPTION
Dato, u expect an apology fron someone who was responsible in parading a stained mattress to court, who lied in court about his first degree, n was labelled as 'unreliable' in a court in East Malaysia? Kudos to the police chief in Gemenceh who tendered his apology when the when one of his boys shot a 'mat rempit in the stomach' which was unjustified, IGP (not PIG) material in the making... :D
ReplyDeletedato,
ReplyDelete,,,unfortunately thses are the kind of leadership leading the country presently !.
,,,what a bloody shame.
poor IGP dok kenak hentam kat dato..
ReplyDeleteu maybe be right but u r not totally right...
amirul parent mayb right but there r not totally right...
IGP maybe wrong but he's not totally wrong...
if he's not supportive of the police who else will support them...
Dear Hugesen,
ReplyDeleteMy stand is that it is wrong to support a lost cause, and in this case, I believe the IGP has been wrong.
There are many ways that the IGP can appease the aggrieve family and the public, and at the same be supportive of his policeman. It is by good public relation and the use of good communication skills. This is where the IGP has failed miserably. What I see of the IGP is sheer arrogance.
Hughsen,
ReplyDeleteI know you're a policeman that's why you do your best to defend your big boss. I symphatise with you but I symphatise Amirul's parents more than you because they lost their son while you lost nothing. I symphatise Amirul's friend whose father is a policeman too because his father might get into trouble while you have nothing to worry. And above all I symphatise with Amirul who died for the wrong reason while you and your big boss badmouthing him as if he was a known criminal.
I would surely give my symphaty for you when your child is gunned down by the police for whatever reason.
A child at 15...driving without a license and was with a friend after midnight...
ReplyDeleteBIG questions..
Are they about to..
ROB, RAPE, RIP OF A 7-11 STORE, RACE..Murder anyone, run down a cop?
They just wanted to have fun!
Sure it is wrong I will nor dispute!
First action:
Try and stop the vehicle
Apprehend him
Arrest the culprit if need be
Do an investigation & inquiry
NOT SHOOT ON SIGHT & SAY THERE WAS A MACHETTEE INSIDE THE CAR...HOW CRUEL..AND WAS ABOUT TO RUN DOWN THE COPS
HOW CAN IT BE TRUE?
IF THEY WERE SHOT FROM BEHIND? IT MEANS AT CLOSE RANGE.. A MOVING CAR IS NOT THAT EASY TO SHOOT AT...WITH A HANDGUN BY THE WAY!
UNLESS THIS COP IS A SWAT TEAM SHARP SHOOTER & SNIPER !
WORSE - now they say the other friend WHO IS STILL ALIVE is a BIG liar!
GOD WORKS IN STRANGE WAYS...HE LIVES TO TELL THE TALES..
pig - IGP - YOU ARE THE BIGGEST BADDEST LIAR OF ALL TIME !
YES MORE BAD NEWS.. WE NOW HAVE A REAL "BAD HEAD COP" RUNNING A REAL "BAD TEAM OF COPS"!
WHAT ARE THE CIRCUMSTANCES TO OPEN FIRE?
READ THE SOP FOR RULES OF ENGAGEMENT (ROE)
IT READS ..... "SHOOT FIRST AND FAST ASK LATER, IF HE/SHE OR THEY ARE STILL ALIVE!"
My HUMBLE Apologies to all the REMAINING GOOD COPS OUT THERE ...
PLEASE SACK THE BAD ONES OR REVEAL ALL THEIR DIRT, DO THE RIGHT THING AND A ALSO A BIG FAVOR FOR THIS COUNTRY IF YOU ARE A TRUE MALAYSIAN WHO HATES CORRUPTED & DIRTY COPS!

ReplyDeleteThis is only my views: The parents should be blame not the police, the police just doing their job and early morning driving a car without license and try to ramp the police road block and then try to fled away..does the police at that time knows, who are they. the police does not equip with night vision google to identified whether it is a boy or a men and the police is not wearing bullet proof vest or concealed bullet proof vest to defence themself if anything happen or been shot ..who knows and i am sure rules of engagement has been clear before taking action because they were trainned and the policemen is not 1 day or 1 month experience if i were him also in the middle of the night i am sure i will use my own judgement to ensure the safety on myself and my partner or people surrounding that area save not to be hurt or shot or being ramp by a car while on duty, but in this case who knows whether inside the car who are they unfortunately a boy supposed to be a discipline boy stay in the house wathcng TV or sitting infront of the computer surf the internet and learn more information or sturdy or playing scrrable etc.
And i support the police not to opologize because they have done their job and in this case the parent does not do their job to make sure their children in the house before 9 pm or earlier than that.
if you love your children you wont allowed them to linggering outside with friends whom you do not know and this is what happen. Do they think this country is free to do what ever they like.I wont allowed my children out of the house after 9 pm.
if in that case better to have a country without the law enforcement so everybody can do what ever their like.
the policemen might be right and might be wrong, rules engagement procedure and immediate action is 2different judgement. so in this case we are human being so we have to decided which one come first if the threat is infront of our eyes.
when the policemen got shot and dead or laying on bed in the hospital nobody raise anything about it and does not become a national issue after a few days it fade away, are they not human being also doing their job. Please be fair la, how many people visited a policemen if they are laying on the hospital bed for doing their job,
and 1 more thing never trademark a person as pig..because if you say that, the words will go back to you also, that you also the same PAPA INDIA GOLF. human being is human being not animal. mind your language...please
Dear PTendas,
ReplyDeleteI will be communicating with you via email. Regards.

Salam Dato'
ReplyDeleteIt takes a great man to say sorry but this fella feels that he is too great to say sorry.
For me, it is not a question to say sorry or not but how you control the damage done at the first place.
In this case, should you have a right choice of words describing the incident at the first place, thing would be better.
However, since the standard script is "Beliau adalah suspek jenayah dan dikesan mempunyai senjata parang di belakang kereta bla bla bla..." this is where the troubles begin. Lucky they were not giving statement "Beliau dikesan mempunyai jenayah lampau..."
What ever it is, I guess the current image of PDRM is SEEN to be bad.
asalamua'laikum Sdr Muhammad Arshad Raji

ReplyDeletebut i think all the ballistic words that you pose here maybe it will be read by the youngster and maybe you dont be suprised one day these children will call you the same thing. With this blog indirectly also we can educate the young ones how to communicate in the proper manner and use the correct words etc. but if we start teaching them all the nasty words and words that not supposed to be used one day they will follow..isnt it.

dear dato,
ReplyDeletekenapa pula yang dia sebuk nak extract article..tak habis habis ke nak huruhara cukup la kat tempat dia jangan nak huruhara kat tempat kita pulak.
dear friends,
ReplyDeletediambil dari utusan malaysia bertarikh 14hb May 2010
Isterinya Santona Pinyin, 44 berkata kos perbelanjaannya mencecah RM 2000 sehingga RM 2000 sebulan.
Ok what say you all my friend. His done his job as a policemen and this is what happen to him or need the person who ramp on him to come forward and say sorry.
I dont think so...
Salam Dato
ReplyDeleteJust wonder at the first place why Koperal Khalid Che Rus need to rely on his wife and family despite having noted he was ramped while on duty? Is he still in service? What happen to his salary? Why his welfare being ignored by police? Didn't he has some kind of insurance or at least assistance from KERAjaan?
I believe bambam could have given more detail on this matter before we could discuss further on getting the said person to say sorry to Kpl Khalid.
Maybe KERAjaan need to say sorry to Kpl Khalid for being ignored.
Dato,
ReplyDeletewe've to be fair and accurate in accounting for the incident for both parties. we've to exercise our rational. remember there're always 2 sides of the coin. i believed both parties make mistakes but that does not give us alsolute right to demonised 1 party only.
i'm sure, if we analyse the context of IGP's poor communication skill - time n place, he was merely being cynical to the media. We can't take what is reported by the media is the gospel truth.
most importantly, making an apology to the deceased parent wud b amounting to accept full responsibility and surely that the last thing in the world all man n women of PDRM want his IGP to do.
Let be fair when we pen our account of the incident by presenting accurate facts not just merely blaming 1 party.
Hughsen,
ReplyDeleteListening to your call for FAIRNESS you sound just like the Kelab Penyokong Polis in the Facebook. Stop misusing that word FAIRNESS for if there is any FAIRNESS needs to be given, it shall be to the deceased and his bereaved mother, not to the policeman who shot him to death and certainly not to that egoist named Musa Hassan.
Shooting that boy for whatever reason is one thing but calling him criminal is where you, the Police and Musa Hassan must learn to be FAIR first to accept the mistake and clear the deceased name because the Police had not proven he is a criminal other than mere suspicion.
Can't the Police be FAIR to the mother to clear his son's name is what she asked for. So don't ask us to be FAIR, ask the Police, ask your big boss, because the onus to be FAIR is with the Police, not with us.
FMZam,
ReplyDeleteIs it terribly wrong 4 me to ask u and dato to b fair???
fair to god..
fair to yourself..
fair to yr family..
fair to yr friends...
i'm no police man... Amirul almost kill a motorcylist? do u think that fair?
i'm simply a man who practise & respect justice and fairness...
BAM BAM - I am not interested to guess whether you are a Pte or just a L/CPL.... no time for that
ReplyDeleteDON'T GIVE A DAMN SHIT WHO YOU ARE EITHER!
We are here to tell the world how stinking it is this PRDM..they think they are GOD, they are above the law and they behave worst than GANGSTERS!
SO BAM BAM get lost and out of this site if you are just a JILAT gormen kaki..esp PRDM
A good leader will not say such words..my man are all "INNOCENT"..proven many many times COPS are drug pushers, robbers and even rapists..they are after all HUMAN beings and they can DO WRONG...THEY ARE NOT ANGELS!
AT LEAST HAVE THE INQUIRY DONE FIRST !
REMEMBER WHEN MAHATIR SAID THAT DSAI KICK HIS OWN EYES BLUE BLACK!
THE POLICE SAID HE PUNCHED HIMSELF BLUE !
SO YOU BELIEVE THAT STORY TOO?
SO YOU ARE JUST ANOTHER PEA BRAIN MORON!
AFTER THAT THE INQUIRY THEY FOUND OUT THE ACTUAL TRUTH !
THE FORMER IGP WAS SENT TO JAIL HE PAID FOR HIS CRIME..
HE DID APOLOGIZED TO DSAI....
THAT GUY IS AT LEAST A GENTLEMEN...
NOT THIS "PIG" !
Salam Dato'
ReplyDeleteI believe FAIRNESS must be done and must be SEEN done.
The magic words in must be SEEN. PDRM might have done something which is considered FAIR
but
most of the time, they are not seen to do something with fairness.
Above all is damage control and this matter is not getting worst should the IGPig and CPO (Sgor) are not "mulut kepoh" and speak wisely in the first place.
Teruk le u ni komando...
ReplyDeletecontrol your madness jgn main hentam je calling people "pig" bla bla.. "get out of dato''s site"... too much? u r rude!! jus because u disagree with them!!
did u know that throwing your madness at people is like grasping a hot coal. intenting to throw it at others; you are the one who gets burned.
u suck me!!!
let it be for him what ever he want to say.
ReplyDeletethis what he say i quote "We are here to tell the world how stinking it is this PRDM.. They think they are GOD, they are above the law and they behave worst than GANGSTERS!" (to me it is not acceptable with this statement).
And you read the statement how many police officer and other rank has been sacked from the police force for their offence so that mean they are not above the law they enforce the law.
We don’t have the actual fact to pin-down others, here we only guessing and also hearsay evidence.. yes it nice to express or talk but for a matured person we supposed to give our views and if we don’t have the actual fact and figure we cannot pinned down people, if we feel that is not right just express your views and give what you think they want to follow, its up to them. And i was wondering why is he so damn mad with the PDRM. The PDRM action is based on the law and rules of procedure that they have to follow but the problem is we as the Malaysian citizen that does not follow the law example driving car without license, riding a motorbike without putting the helmet, young children below 12 riding a motorbike and sms while the motorbike is moving etc.. so is this what we called a discipline citizen, there is lot of problem facing by the PDRM to take care of violence, robbing, raping, snatching, murdering, and offence committed by PATI and so on and worst part is the traffic jammed in Kuala Lumpur, and anything happen the law and court will decided and if we ‘tambah and tambah’ it become more worst. We are supposed to protect our dignity and honour of the country not spreading all the news which is not relevant or confirmed yet to the world saying that our PDRM is like a gangster and so on, sorry gangster does not wear uniform, if they are worst than gangster I think you also cannot sleep at night.
As a Malaysian citizen you know what you supposed to do and what you not supposed to do. So if you do not want the police to disturb you so don’t do the bad thing that against the law, be a good citizen and follow the law if they stop you on the road when you make a mistake just say sorry and don’t do it again, if you make the same mistake then you can called yourself ‘stupid’, that what I did to myself.
I will go against anybody who likes to say bad thing about Malaysia and also tarnish the honour and dignity of our or my country to others.
Rukun Negara.
KEPERCAYAAN KEPADA TUHAN
KESETIAAN KEPADA RAJA DAN NEGARA
KELUHURAN PERLEMBAGAAN
KEDAULATAN UNDANG-UNDANG
KESOPANAN DAN KESUSILAAN
Sdr bambam,
ReplyDeleteThere's no way I will say good about bad Malaysians, it just too bad those bad Malaysians I said about happened to be V.I.P (Very Impossible Person) who are really VIP. And like you, I love my country, and my country is Malaysia where my countrymen are Malaysians, while your country is Malaysia and your countrymen are Malay FIRST, Chinese, Indian, others are SECOND and Malaysian LAST.
When to you the dignity and honour of this country is simply by strict adherence to the RUKUN NEGARA, to us it means not just adherence but to safeguard the RUKUN NEGARA from the manipulation and contamination of vile dirty politicking.
Don't just go against anybody who badmouthing Malaysia, but against anybody who made Malaysia's image and reputation so bad in the international arena. Don't just be a JUARA KAMPUNG afterall we are all fighters too, not just you.
Don't get annoyed by Komando, he's what he is and he's not important and so are we all in this blog. The one who is important is the one who we are talking about. Since when we can stop anyone talking his heart and mind out especially when he is ANGRY ENOUGH and his adrenalin burns with the speed of light?
Go get yourself a Light Saber for this place is not for the softhearted. Even the seemingly softhearted persons in this blog are actually the battle hardened son-of-a-gun for all you know.
Nak tergelak pun ade, geram dan marah pun ade,fed up pun ade, benci pun ade dan menyampah pun ade .Perasaan ni timbul bila baca komen komen diatas mengenai kejadian budak kena tembak Polis ni.Mungkin punca nya salah didikan atau latihan PDRM ni.
ReplyDeleteBiar le Komando nak cakap ape pun itu hak dia, kalau tak bukan Komando namanya..........Komando adalah askar elit bukannya Mat pacak jaga tepi jalan tu.A
Aku teringat peribahasa cina berbunyai "only bad Chinese join the Police".....betul ke?
Wali Dari Muar!
ReplyDeleteYou got it all wrong!
The Old Chinese proverb goes like this: "GOOD SONS DO NOT DON UNIFORMS"!
The reason for this is way back in those ancient days, the greater China has a "TWO child policy only"!
If you have a son and he leaves the home and becomes a soldier he is as good as gone, he belongs to the state (Gormen)!
The farm needs hands to work the field, without an extra hand the work becomes a bigger burden to the family.
The idea of a soldier is having to be totally be far far away from home, you are lucky you get to go home once a year.
The country is so huge and you get a posting 1000 miles away and that's IT..goodbye for ever..
You are also expected to die for your country, wars was a common thing once a upon a time in China!
So that is why the saying goes that way.
AS FOR ALL THE OTHERS WHO ARE ANGRY WITH ME, MY APOLOGIES, REAL ONES....
INNOCENT LIVES ARE LOST FROM POOR JUDGMENT, BAD TRAINING AND POOR LEADERSHIP.
ANOTHER COP TODAY, JUST AN ASP GOT ARRESTED FOR SHOWING OFF HIS "PISTOL"
DON'T YOU CALL THAT A BAD COP !
WHAT MORE CAN I SAY?
THAT HURTS ME MOST...THE THOSE WHO STILL LOVE THE MEN IN BLUES GOOD LUCK....
Mr.Hug and Mr. Bam
ReplyDeleteWe lost the T.Cup, we lost Sime Darby, we lost Tabung Haji, we lost Perwaja, we lost Bakun, we lost Bank Bumi twice (it is a world RECORD, a bank becoming BANKRUPT FOR 2 TIMES)We lost Limbang, we lost oil fields to Brunei...WE LOST Batu Putih "PRANCA-BLANCA" to S'pore...and all in a nutshell, we have even LOST our 2 BALLS !
NOW WE HAVE SO MUCH MORE TO LOSE - PKFZ, SUBMARINES, KD INDRA-PURA, RM300-400 MILLION IN BAD DEALS..AND the list is ENDLESS..
ANY WE ARE ALSO LOSING THE POLICE FORCE THAT ONCE MADE US SO PROUD - THE BEST SPECIAL BRANCH IN THE WORLD, AND EVEN THE BRITISH SCOTLAND YARD IS SECOND TO US!
WE ARE SO POOR NOW THANKS TO THE BAD SYSTEM !
THE SYSTEM FAILS WHEN THE LEADERS FAIL...
THAT IS WHY THE JAPANESE SAMURAI HAVE GREAT HONOUR IN THEMSELVES...THEY WOULD RATHER "HARA-KIRI" THAN FACE THE SHAME OF BEING A FAILED LEADER/WARRIOR!
WE HAVE SHAMELESS "BABI HUTAN" AS HEADS!
NEVER ADMITTING ANY WRONG DOING EVEN THOUGH PROVEN TO BE DAMN WRONG !
JAPANESE AND KOREAN LEADERS STEP DOWN AND IT IS AN HONOR TO DO SO!
EVEN IN THE CORPORATE WORLD, THE CEO WOULD TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY AND ADMIT THEIR MISTAKES.
NOT HERE, THEY FIND A REAL WILLING GOOD SCAPE-GOAT OR "KAMBING HITAM" OR FALL GUY TO TAKE THE WRAP AND ACCEPT ALL TE SHHITTTTTTTT THEIR BOSS DID !
SO ARE WE TO BE BLAMED OR THEY TO BE BLAMED OR BLAME IT ALL ON ME FOR GETTING SO DAMN ANGRY !????
MR. Bam BAM BAM & MR..HUGGIES...- "the code man or man with a code?"

My own experience - I went to the PRDM Traffic HQ down town in KL.
Made a vehicle accident case report.
I Left my bag inside a SURAU, INSIDE A POLICE STATION AND INSIDE A GATED AND GUARDED COMPOUND BY PRDM!
I TURN AROUND FOR ABLUTIONS !

"CAN YOU BEAT THAT?"

HOW CAN YOU ASK ME TO TRUST A COP, WORST A MALAY & MUSLIM COP?
Dear Komando,
ReplyDeleteThanks for correcting my chinese quotation earlier.China is a huge country indeed and has a huge population but what I saw last week in Beijing,Shanghai and Shuzao was a developed country ,far ahead of Malaysia in every aspect of life.Their concept of "Raayat didahulukan" was reflected in the cost of moving around the city by subway which only cost 2 Yuan or 1 RM per day.A system which really favours their citizen more than their leaders.Ours it works the opposite way, whereby our leaders will shout and yell "raayat didahulukan" and in reality raayat is suffering.
One thing I like about China is they shoot convicted corrupters and I like Malysia to adopt this concept of eliminating prasite in this country.
WALI DARI MUAR..
ReplyDeleteYOU ARE ALWAYS WELCOME
History is for us to read and hopefully learn something out of it, not just read, memorize and pass the exams..
The history of MALAYA must be rewritten.. so that we start afresh with a better footing and no squabbles, after 53 years we are heading backwards!
And if the idea of SHOOTING THE DAMN CORRUPTED PERSONS IS IMPLEMENTED IN THIS LAND.... ME 'O' MY GOD, please FORGIVE ME..
WE WILL HAVE LOTS OF BROKEN, BLASTED & USELESS HEADS LYING IN THE STREETS OF K.L.
CAN YOU IMAGINE ALL THE DIRTY MINISTERS & FILTHY POLITICIANS HEADS ALL SCATTERED OVER THE CITY...?
NOT TO FORGET CORRUPTED HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS AND GORMEN SERVANTS TOO.
NOBODY WILL VISIT MALAYSIA ANYMORE..PEOPLE WILL SAY THIS COUNTRY IS COMMUNISTS !
THEY WILL SAY WE ARE BABARIANS!
CHINA IS FREE MARKET
CHINA IS STILL COMMUNISTS
WE ARE DEMO-CRAZY NATION!
