NST Saturday, November 21, 2009 (World page 33) reports, ‘MP quits over expenses scam’.
The above report refers to a British Conservative party lawmaker David Curry who quit his post as head of the House of Commons committee charged with policing lawmakers’ expenses, after the media raised allegations concerning his own expenses. Curry is alleged to have ‘claimed almost 30,000 British pounds (RM 170,000) of public fund to maintain a second home that he was barred from using’.
Can we not see the difference here i.e. a British MP quits his post in the House of Commons merely upon a media allegation, while in the Malaysian scenario, a state legislative member will vehemently deny any wrong doing, even if he is unable to justify his excessive lifestyle (outrageously spending money that does not belong to him), and the ownership of some palatial home (the Khir Toyo case).
Here lies the difference between some of our lawmakers and this particular British MP. By quitting merely based on a media report, the latter has proven himself to be gracious and upright in facing public allegations, and that the righteous recourse to take is to resign. What he did is unselfish and honourable, rather than be shamed by his constituents who will now view him in abject disapproval. And there isn’t a single MP from his party who would want to side him, or to raise a protest against the media allegation.
Can we not see the maturity in the way the British lawmakers react to a case of abuse, in comparison to our lawmakers? If this was to happened to our MP or state legislative member, I am quite sure a ‘mini rampage’ would have started by their party supporters. And have we not seen such ‘mini rampage’ happening, and of all places, in the august house of Parliament (like what happened to Karpal Singh) or State Legislative Assembly itself (the fracas in the Perak State Assembly)?
We have seen too much of denials of abuses by our MPs and state assemblymen from both the political divide, and I am yet to see one, just one that has proven himself/herself to be righteous, upright, honest and sincere to be called the Yang Berhormat (Honourable); probably with the exception of the Menteri Besar Kelantan Tuan Guru Nik Abdul Aziz, and maybe a few others.

Dato'
Our MPs will never willingly go, they want to stay on to loot some more.
Even if there is a case against them pending.
In the mean time the more public funds they will be spending.
Even when all is lost and they finally have to go.
The next thing they end up in a government linked company as the CEO.
That Dato' is the story of our wakil Rayaat.
Hendak hidup mewah sapanjang hayaat.
The difference my dear Dato' Pak Chad is: They are humans, whereas what we have here in this country is a sub human species (TOYOL)!
They British MP's are NOT MUSLIM's but most of our corrupted leaders are ALMOST ALL MALAYS - and therefor ISLAM ! Hopefully, I am not wrong!
UMNO has a total different set of Islamic Laws..have we ALL not seen, it is so obvious?
If the PEE M himself ( a Muslim hopefully) can asked a GUILTY party or person to appeal against the verdict dished out by an
Islamic Court what more can WE SAY?
The crime has been proven and the guilty party has admitted TO it herself!
Does that not proof that Islam is being "DI-HINA"?
WHY NO ACTION IS TAKEN AGAINST HIM?
Is it just because he is the President of UMNO and the PEE M?
So he is above the SYARIAH laws?
He is above Hukum Islam?
He is Mightier then the ALMIGHTY ?
SO HE IS GOD?
Where can we as Muslims, hide our faces and tell others we are an Islamic country..practicing good Islamic principles?
We claim we are the world's best living example of a progressive Islamic Country!
CAN WE BLAME THE OTHERS IN OUR OWN COUNTRY FROM REDICULING US, THOSE WHO DO NOT UNDERSTAND ISLAM IN TOTAL. AS MUCH AS IN-DEPTH OF WHAT ARE THE TRUE TEACHINGS OF ISLAM?
DUNIA DAH NAK AKHIR, MAKIN BANYAK SEBEGINI AKAN BERLAKU...so don't be surprise..I am the least surprised!
We doa we can jaga diri kita dan keluarga kita sebaik nya yang boleh!
Allah will have the last say as you have always profess and that we shall all see the FINAL justice eventually, not in this life BUT DEFINITELY DI PADANG MASHAR...insya allah !
That keeps us all sane, otherwise thinking of all this nonsensical things happening IN OUR COUNTRY right before our eyes will make all of us go CRAZY !
THE LIST of Degradation THAT IS WRECKING THIS SOCIETY :
Murders
Rape
Fornification
Financial Scandals
Corruption
Killings
Crimes
Robberies
WE CANNOT DO A THING. THEY CONTROL ALL THE AGENCIES AND THEY CONTROL THE TOOLS. WE CAN ONLY PRAY GOD COMES SOON TO SAVE US ALL!
WE CANNOT AND SHALL NOT SHED BLOOD TO ACHIEVE THE END RESULT!
Otherwise we are worst then the Somali's!
It will take us maybe another hundred years to be like the British minister.
Komando listed a list of "Degradation" It is actually a qualification to be a minister in this country and they are proud of it.
What about stealing wifes???
"wives"
Wife Stealing or Stealing Wives does not matter MR PM..hopefully you make it to become the next one!
A real good PM TO SAVE US ALL.
It is mutual THEY say "suka sama suka"!
SO "dah jodoh apa nak buat", they say!
"Suratan Takdir" - also a sure good excuse...!
THEY ALWAYS BLAME GOD !
JUST LIKE EX-MENTELI TIDAK KERJA TAPI JADI KAYA RAYA !
Dear Pak Chad,
I agree with you totally in regard to the honour code prevalent among British MPs.But do remember that this particular guy resigned only after being exposed. If he were half the rightous and honourable person that you have made him out to be, then he would not have cheated in the first place. Obviously, character wise, he is no different than the YBs that we have here..but with one notable exception .... muka orang putih tak tebal. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for ours.
I must emphasise here that the application of this honour code is not confined only to Western peoples and Western institutions; we have also seen examples of such admirable conduct practiced here in Asia. One notable example
was the resignation of the Chairman of Japan Airline in the b80s immediately after one of their Boeing 747s slammed into a mountain killing over 200 passengers. In that incident he took the blame for what was quite simply a pilot induced error. Another example was the stepping down of the Korean Transport minister as a consequence of the famous Lockheed scandal and many more.
Nearer home one should'nt forget the incident involving the resignation of Tan Sri Ani Arop the chairman of Tenaga Nasional over his objecion to the generous and lopsided rates given by the govt to the IPOs. (For everybody's information, each and every one of us are paying for this, probably ad infinitum )..... And we should collective salute the Honourable Tan Sri for daring to tangle with Mr Machiavelli himself 'Tun Mahathir'. Naturally the IPOs are grateful and to you know who...
The final example of exemplary conduct that I can recall was that displayed by the late Tun Dr Ismail who resigned from public office over his disagreement with the 'pucuk pimpinan parti' then, to return to his private practice in JB. Indeed, such fine behavioral conduct are not only rare but are today frowned upon because it is considered foolhardy and self defeating(tidak berfaedah). Such is the state of affairs here in Malaysia.
So need I say more....
Dear Mr. Razak a warm welcome to this BLOG...hope to hear more from you...we are here to fight a war and trying to win small battles..it is an uphill battle all the way.
BEING OLD SOLDIERS WE NEVER DIE TILL WE ARE DEAD AND BURIED...WE ONLY FADE AWAY....
WE SUPPORT THOSE WHO SUPPORT THE BATTLE AGAINST CORRUPTED LEADERS/PERSONS AND PRACTICES...
BECAUSE WE LOVE THIS COUNTRY MORE THAN THEM....!
