FRANCE – MALAYSIA RELATIONS TO PROSPER

'France wishes to maintain good ties with Malaysia' reads the news headlines in NST Online October 8, 2009.

This is expected of a nation that had made good business with the RMN by clinching the submarine deal, and also giving a hefty commission to its agents.

And now I hear that France through one of its companies Thomson, has delivered the 120mm Rifled Mortars to the Malaysia Army to be mounted on the Adnan AFV. More details of the purchase (believed to have been done in a dubious manner) will be revealed as more information is available. So, stay tuned.

Dato' Arshad,
To prosper Malaysia or line the pockets of certain well-connected and already prosperous individuals getting the hefty commissions. We should do away with appointing agents in purchase of military hardware and revamp our procurement process to just Government to Government purchase.

Hmmm ... why I'm not surprised by this turn of event.

After all, our dear PM just visited France and the French delegations will do the same some time next year.

Well, more deals are on the way. Anyone care to join, sure going to be a millionaire if not billionaire, I mean, the easy way. That, unfortunately, if you are able to get into the right ring of fire.

My humble apology, at this moment, any positive development for the country, my mind just couldn't go with it.

Doto, thank you for your exemplary courage and time to right the wrong. Like the saying goes "there are still a fine gentlemen standing" and you are sure one of them.

My apology, last paragraph, spelling error. Must be the finger moves faster than the mind.

It should be "Dato" instead "Doto"

Dato'

Dubious or not is left open to interpretation. The purchase of the mortars from TDA (2R2M) was made during DSA 2008, in which 8 such systems has been bought, and will be installed on the follow-up purchase of Adnan. In this case, it will be installed on the more capable, stretched version of Adnan AIFV; ACV-300S - which were also bought during the same exhibition. There is a logic on such purchase, as Turkey (OEM) already operated such mortars in big numbers; and the integration/installation of such mortars to the existing ACV-300 won't incur additional cost + research.
Perhaps Dato could shed further information on this matter.
