ANOTHER OF HISHAMUDDIN’S ANTIC

You see what I mean when the authorities wants to nail down someone (especially opposition leaders). They will insinuate language of threat to the person concern. This was what Home Minister Hishamuddin Hussein did in the case of Mat Sabu for the alleged remarks the latter made by referring to the communist that attacked the Bukit Kepong police station in 1950 as heroes (The Malaysian Insider, Sept 11, 2011), or did Mat Sabu referred them as freedom fighters?

This clearly reflects Hisham’s paranoia of the opposition where anything said by them is deemed a security threat to the country. But somehow, this rule clearly does not apply to the likes of Perkasa boss Ibrahim Ali when he told the Chinese community to stock up food and to remain indoors during the Bersih rally, or Senator Mohd Ezam Md Noh when he threatened to burn Malaysiakini’s office and calling it’s Malay employees to seek employment elsewhere. Both these personalities seem to have a certain immunity to say what they wish, and be rest assured nothing will happen to them.

Hisham, pardon me for saying this to you again………please think hard before you speak. Do not think you are the law yourself, and that you can use the language of threat on anyone you please. I have been listening and watching you talk, and I can say this………..you sound so immature and you lack substance in what you say. I also say that you’re keris yielding act was the most idiotic thing to do, and both your grandfather and father, if they were alive would not have liked what you did. Your grandfather was the person that wanted Malayans regardless of race to be reunited, and your father was a man of peace; incorruptible to the core. But unfortunately you Hisham, you are the reverse of Onn Jaafar and Hussein Onn, the two great Malay leaders that I admire most. I cannot say much of the Malay leaders of today; neither can I say much of you.

Now Hisham, you said that there may be other ‘punitive laws’ that can be thrown at Mat Sabu. Please use it on him, if this is the only way to stop the bickering that has been going on endlessly among politicians, academicians, retired members of the security forces and the general public over the alleged remarks made by Mat Sabu. And don’t you realize now that it is only after the remarks have been made by Mat Sabu that there is wide public acceptance that our national history taught in schools need to be restudied. And are you going to shut up Tun Dr. Mahathir for making such a remark? Try and do it if you dare. Had such a remark come from the likes of Lim Kit Siang or Karpal Singh, you will not hesitate to throw the books at them. And Utusan Malaysia will have a gala day reporting about it.

I wish to say this again, that this thoughtless bickering over Mat Sabu’s remarks that has not simmered for days on end is a total waste of time. I want our leaders to talk about the ‘bread and butter’ issues that has worsened and have made Malaysians much poorer. Try taking RM100 to the market today and see what all you can buy. And try to imagine the sufferings of our rural folks if they cannot afford to buy enough food to feed their families. Stop buying all the luxury staffs that some of our super rich politician wives are so fond doing, like buying expensive hand bags and jewelries. Please stop all this nonsense.

HISHAMUDDIN – YOU GOT IT ALL WRONG

Hisham, you got it all wrong once again. How could you compare the London riots with that of the Bersih protest? Any Dick, Tom and Harry knows the difference between the two and don’t tell us that if our police had not acted the way they did, we would have suffered the same consequences as the London riots. Hisham was merely echoing (supposedly, without giving much thoughts) what was said by the DIGP Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar earlier.

Please Hisham, you still think that we Malaysian are so naïve and to be told of the untold destruction the Bersih rally could have caused to the peace and security of this country. To me, had there been no water cannons or tear gas, the rally would have fizzled out in just a few hours, with no arrest, injuries and even death. The protestors would have given a huge thumb up to the police for their patience and cooperation. And I am quite sure Hisham would have gained much popularity for this, and I quite sure too that even Pak Samad would have some kind words for the government.

Hisham and the rest said that the authorities acted in a ‘civil way’, and the police had to justify their activities by showing videos to the press of their supposedly civilised way of handling a peaceful protest demanding a free and fair election. Even the electronic media with the courtesy of the Information Ministry went all out to proof their ‘innocence’, but the fact of the matter is that civil society and particularly those that were at the rally knows exactly what happened. They say that you need to cover a lie with a bigger lie, and that was what the authorities actually did to cover their lies; and one clear example was the incident at Tung Shin Hospital. Despite all the evidences, not a word of apology and regrets from the authorities………….what sheer arrogance.

Clearly, the London riot wasn’t started for a political reason, and this was clearly mentioned by the British PM in parliament and this was supported by the opposition leader. The British civil society responded in the same manner. It was a criminal act by gangs of youth that just wanted to create chaos and public disorder. There was no clear leadership and demands. The rioters acted quite independently and it was a clear case of ‘you do what you like’ and if caught, ‘you answer for yourself’.

You see, the difference is too obvious if one were to compare it with the Bersih rally. The Bersih rally had a genuine purpose and this was well stated at the outset. It had a leadership and is well organized and made known to the authorities. It wasn’t a ‘cloak and dagger’ operations. Even a formal request for the rally was submitted to the authorities with an assurance that the rally will be peaceful. This request was flatly disapproved and was deemed an illegal assembly; on the most outrageous basis. Even a yellow shirt and the word Bersih became illegal. See how paranoid can the authorities be.

Once again I would like to say this to adik Hisham, “berfikir lah dahulu sebelum bercakap. Awak ini bukan nya budak budak lagi tapi seorang menteri. Dan sebagai saorang menteri apa yang harus keluar dari mulut awak ialah kata kata yang mulia lagi bijaksana yang boleh diterima akal. Contohi lah kemuliaan dan kebijaksanaan ninda dan ayahanda awak. Itu lah ingatan kekanda awak yang hina ini”.

THE SEVERED BOAR HEADS – AND WHAT NEXT?

Now, it is a severed heads of wild boars being thrown at two mosques in Kuala Lumpur in the early morning of Wednesday 27, January. Previously, it was a severed cow head being paraded around in Shah Alam, and the case is still pending. I just do not know if the perpetrators will ever be charged in court. Or is it going to be another NFA case.

And at last, we now hear a more strident words from Home Affairs Minister, Hishamuddin when he is reported to have said, “we are dead serious about this (referring to the severed boar head incident), and we will bring them (who are they?) to justice”. But I think, such words comes a bit too late. Hishamuddin should have been 'dead serious' when the first church burning incident occurred early in the month. Not after a dozen or more cases of arson attempts on churches, suraus and even a Sikh Temple. So, by saying that he is now dead serious, gives one the impression that he wasn't that serious earlier, after all. And that must be the reason why he could afford to be out of the country, at a time when the country is saddled with a serious problem.

Now, the severed wild boar head incident is beginning to turn ugly; and this incident can ignite serious sectarian violence, which all peace loving Malaysians would want to avoid. Peace loving Malaysians do not want to see another May 13 occurring; certainly not me anymore. I do not know where Hishamuddin was at the time, and I know for sure that no soldiers would want to be involved on public order duties. Soldiers are trained to fight and kill an invading enemy; not killing civilians. That was how I was trained, but sadly politicians think quite the contrary.

I believe this incident would not have happened if the Home Affairs Ministry was 'dead serious' in handling this racially and religiously sensitive issue. The way I see it, the action taken by the authorities is not to my expectation, and sorry for saying this.

And had I been the Prime Minister, honestly, I would have given the Home Affairs Minister and the IGP a sack.
