OF THREATS, INTIMIDATION AND FEAR

I am witnessed to the hardship and inconvenience that my grandmother had to face during the period of first Malayan Emergency, with food rationing, security checks and curfew. However, as a child I never knew what all these meant, despite seeing soldiers of the Commonwealth Forces passing through the village hunting down the Communist Terrorist (CT). There was not to be the slightest fear in me.

And when I decided to join the Army, I was witnessed to the entire period of the resurgence of the Communist Insurgency. It was only then that I knew how difficult it was to seek out the CTs and the hardship that the security forces had to face. It was not only the difficulties of having to toil the jungle areas for months on end, but being newly married and having to raise a family, I sometimes found my personal life overbearingly difficult, and at times emotional.

Today, the country had since 1989 freed itself from the CT menace. We can proudly claim to be the only country in the world that had fought communist terrorism over several decades and won. It had taken hundreds of lives of our security forces though, whose death were certainly not in vain. These fallen men will be forever remembered for their sacrifices for generations to come, and they are truly our national heroes. For those (security forces) who had served the country during the period of the Malayan Emergency, Indonesian Confrontation and the Communist Insurgency and are still alive today will appreciate and understand the meaning of peace and security, and how much it matters to them and to the country.

The country today is safe and is at peace. People from all walks of life are free to travel around the length and breadth of the country without the fear of the communist threat. There are no more curfews, food rationing, security road checks, wanton murders and house to house searches for CT sympathizers. Members of the security forces no longer operates in deep jungle areas for long duration, laying ambush and be shot at, be maimed by anti personal mines and bobby traps and to conduct long and treacherous foot patrols. Children no longer miss their father for long period of time, and the constant fear that their father may not come home alive. Ask any wife then, and that was the most common fear that they all harbored in their hearts.

A few days ago, I read that there were some irresponsible people who had openly commented that the country will be in turmoil if de facto PR leader Anwar Ibrahim gets a prison sentence on January 9, 2012. I do not know the basis of their argument and rationalization for them to have derived at such an assessment and conclusion.

Utusan Melayu’s Awang Selamat and Perkasa’s boisterous Ibrahim Ali, the two people that had come out with that conclusion should be grilled for making such ‘startling, irresponsible and ridiculous statement’ that can cause fear and apprehension among the peace loving public. But being somewhat of a ‘government’s spokesmen’, they are deemed untouchable, protected and out of reach of the law. Both, I think never held a rifle before nor had they spend time in the jungle seeking out the CTs. They have neither experienced the tumultuous period of the 13 May nor knew the difficulties and challenges faced by our security forces in warding off the threat posed during the Indonesian Confrontation. I believe they were living off their comforts of home since birth.

I would advise that these two people keep their gap shut, for I know they will be the first people to hide under the skirts of their wives if there were to be trouble in the country. Didn’t Ibrahim Ali threatened to use his ‘warriors’ to challenge Bersih 2.0, but conveniently kept away from being involved during the rally? He lost his keris and that’s the reason why. And for Awang Selamat, please do not hide behind a pseudonym. I say that your nonsensical column in Utusan Malaysia will cease after GE 13. Both are simply cowards and are cheap ‘war mongers’ – that’s what they are good at.

If someone were to ask me how do I assess the situation on 9 January? I would say, “Yes, the situation will be tense but not riotous. Even if they were to be riots, it will be confirm to urban areas (notably KL) and not widespread throughout the country. It will not be anything bigger than the riots experienced during the ‘Reformasi Movement’ of 1998. I think the police can manage the entire situation and certainly I do not believe the Armed Forces should be deployed at all – whatever are the circumstances. Should the Armed Forces be deployed, it can only be done after due consultation and with the royal consent of HRH the Yang DiPertuan Agong, him being the Commander-in-Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces.

Political expedient should not be the primary reason to deploy the Armed Forces. And the Armed Forces should not take the dictates of the political masters. The ultimate reason to deploy the Armed Forces is for the protection of the people; and not otherwise.

Dato,
I don't think there will be any nation wide spread trouble as I can predict. Ibrahim Ali and Awang Selamat should be more weary of the 'explosion' coming from the rakyat come GE13. To me its ,'Adios Amigos'for UMNO/BN.

Of late we have all noticed the unheard army/police co-operation in combating crime and shared recruit training army centers are in my mind a prelude to unleash the army on the streets at the drop of a hat.Perhaps preparations are already going on as we speak. Loyalty may be to King and country but charimakan generals will be with UMNO.Let's all pray and hope calm heads will prevail what ever happens in the comings weeks and months

Dato, the country after having to go through decades of fighting the communist insurgency, with the unselfish sacrifices of the men in the armed forces and emerging victorious, has now to face another new threat.

This new threat known as the 'corruption insurgency' is more dangerous that the decades of fighting the communist terrorists. And this corruption insurgency is being practised by the ruling regime Umno/BN.It has not only brought the country of 28 million people to the brink of bankruptcy due to the greed for the ringgit.

The regime has sowed hatred among the various races and religions and will not blink an eye to caused riots as an excuse to used the police to surpressed the opposition. It has also caused deaths or murders to innocent people.

One executive was murdered trying to investigate the BBMB fiasco in Hong Kong.A young Mongolian model and mother was murdered and her body blown to smithereens in Malaysia for trying to demand her long overdued 500,000 ringgit commission in the submarine deal. And many countless deaths are unaccounted for.

Then they have their paid bloggers and trouble makers out making provocating and damaging accusations and statements. All these to cause animosity among the various races. This Umno/BN regime will go the full length of the stretch to create trouble to try and stay in power.

When the racial and religious bigots of the Umno regime bark, the IGP and the rest of the PDRM ran and hide under the sarongs of their mak chiks. When members of the opposition talk they send dozens of PDRM and MACC personels to arrest one person. These pariah cowards.

This Awang Selamat and Abrahim Ali are paid spokespersons of Umno.Anything and everything they said are from a written script from their handlers from Umno. Therefore the cowardly Umnoputras should not distanced themselves from them when things backfired,as they seemed to do so in the past.Their inaction has confirmed their participation.

The people are matured enough to keep cooler heads if Anwar is found guilty and sent to prison. The people and especially the opposition PR will not fall into the trap that Umno has set up for them.To create trouble or disterbances is like voluntering their heads to the guillotine. The people and the opposition has to live to fight another day.And that day will be GE 13th.

bruno said...

Dato, the religious, racial and fear mongerers Mat Selamat and Abrahim Ali should start changing entires with our cow's minister Sharizat.
Shahrizat should be the one wearing pants, whereas Mat Selamat and Abrahim Ali should be wearing skirts, blouses and panties.

Shahrizat when cornered has proved to have more balls than Mat Selamat and Abrahim Ali combined together.Shahrizat has not only not wanting to quit, she has even challenged that if she goes down she will drag some Umnoputras down with her.She has warned Umnoputras that they are of the same if not worse than her when it comes to rampant corruption.

Shahrizat knows how to hit under the belt where it hurts the most.
Mat Selamat and Abrahim Ali knows that they have immunity against the law that is why they are so brave and vocal. But still these cowards will hightailed for the hills if they felt pressured when things backfired.

If Shahrizat has her way, cowards like Mat Selamat,Abrahim Ali and some of her collegue Umnoputras will be neutered even worse than dogs, cats and even horses.Theirs will be chopped off completely. That is how dangerous a lady scorned can be.

Dato,it is already Jan 1st 2012Eight more days and Malaysians will know the verdict of Anwar's sodomy case.My gut feelings is Anwar will be spending a long spell in prison. How will Anwar's diehard supporters handle this is another problem.

Hopefully everyone will handle Anwar's imprisonment with cooler heads.Making public disturbances will be like falling into Umno's bear trap.Whether sodomy 2 is true or not only two people will know. That is Anwar himself and Saiful. The Singapore intellegience has come to conclude that it was an entrapment.

Maybe it is a blessing that Anwar be sent to prison. It will be a rallying call for the people to kick out the corrupted Umno GOM.The main problem is Azmin Ali.

Azmin Ali although the blue eyed boy and heir of Anwar,is not widely accepted within PKR as its leader. So is in the PR coalition. And Umno supporters don't like him and Anwar either. The best thing for PKR and PR is that Azmin fades away.He will be the stumbling block for a PR victory in the polls should Anwar be sent to prison.

Best is PKR choose another leader who will command respect within the PR coalition and will be accepted by the Malays and Umno/BN supporters. There is no way can there be a victory for the PR without the support of the Malay fence sitters and Umno supporters.
All PKR and PR needs for a victory is a leader who will helm the coalition who has the respect and support and will be accepted by the people.

Dato',

The likes of Ibrahim Ali and Utusan's Awang Selamat get away with inciting racial hatred, sedition and threatening national security whist the common day person gets persecuted by the authorities over false allegations of the same. Why is the UMNO led government giving carte blanche protection to these 2 slimeballs and hate mongers? I cannot believe the economics expert cum prime minister Najib and the education expert cum deputy prime minister Mooheedin are so stupid not to realize that their 2 barking dogs are causing the Malaysian public to turn against them and UMNO. But then again, I have seen stupid people who imagine themselves as being intelligent, namely, all UMNO politicians.

The likes of Ibrahim Ali and Awang Selamat do not believe in divine intervention but they should. God works in mysterious ways and as the saying goes, if Man is incapable to execute punishment, God can and always will.

Dear Dato,
Politicians are known to speak with many tongues,so to say. People like Perkasa's Ibrahim Ali and Hasan Ali of Pas and many others are never consistent with their statements. These people play the issues on race , religion and royalty. They twist and spin according to their master's wishes. But now not only politicians are in the gutter. Bloggers like Bigdog and Papagomo are known to have been bought over. Of the latest blogger, Raja Petra (RPK) had also join the ranks under Brutus. Shame on RPK but after the Melbourne incident with TV3, RPK is a suspect as a turn-coat and now proven right. Well, everyone has a price and UMNO manage to get the right pricing for these scums. Politics is getting dirtier by the day.I hope GE13 can bring some 'fresh-air' for all of us. Otherwise the staunch will be unbearable. God save our country!

I think we will endure all kind of hardship after GE13 if there is no clear-cut victory for either BN or PR.

The Chinese has shown that they are solidly behind DAP.The Malays meanwhile are divided between UMNO, PAS and PKR.The MIC still has some support from the Indian community, with some going to PKR and other minority parties. So we can conclude that the outcome of GE13 will not be decisive for any of the contending party.

If this proves to be true then the best option for us is to have a National Unity Government after GE13.It would be better for Malaysia to have UMNO,PAS, DAP and PKR to sit down under one roof working for the interest of all Malaysians.

MikaAngel-O, With due respect, there is no need to be rude to Genghiz Khan as he is just asking a simple direct question posed to you. This blog of Dato is not meant to 'caci' one another. It is strictly meant to put forward one's opinion/comment rightly or wrongly it does not really matters, it is still a comment.Let's learn to agree to defer as matured people. If one does not understand and seek clarification from the originator it should be a pleasure to explain the contents instead of being uncouth. Although Dato, did not asked about your comments does not mean that everyone knows what you are writing about.See the point?

It is a big dilemma for military commanders to be involved in the maintenance of public order. The Army is there to protect the country and its people from external harm.Military officers are educated not to repress the rakyat and it is for this reaosn very little time is given to civil disorder and disturbances training.Military commanders are fearful of unintentinal mistakes (due to lack of training) by their officers and men in such unfamiliar scenario.

The military should only be deployed when there is an armed rebellion to bring down an elected government by force.

It is the job of the Police to handle 901 and GE13.

It is only a High court judgment. If he is fd guilty, he will be set free on bail pending his Crt of Appeal and Federal Crt appeal just like Khir 'Toyo.

PKR people shld learn from the
sodomy 1 episode where Anwar was denied bail and the court cited security reason. Don't give the 'Ummo' judge any reason to deny bail if he is convicted..by citing security reason. If Khir Toyo is given bail pending his appeal..why not Anwar unless his supporters do something very stupid.

I suspect Perkasa will be in the vicinity to provoke the unsuspecting PKR supporters to retaliate and to create chaos. If this happens, I'm sure
Anwar will straight go to jail without bail being extended.

I think, that joker Khalid, D/igp and Brahim Perkasa is setting the scene for a chaotic situation to happen. That is what they want and are looking for.

Dear all,
Sometimes the comments from readers are very subtle, cynical, incomprehensible and critical of the article written and in this case of the writings of Dato General. Dato being a gentlemen that he is has accommodated all the comments (i think) without any censor. We should be appreciative and thankful of that, however our comments must be understood and comprehensible by all, for the simple reason that our comments are read by all not just Dato General. If you write in a lingo only understood by Dato General then better post the comments somewhere else lah, like an email perhaps.
I am not trying to be smart but just like to make life as simple as possible.

Dato',
We have a delicate situation when the Judge delivers his finding come 09012012,because the confidence of the people on the independence of the Judiciary is rather low. The emasculation of the Judiciary as commented by the late Tun Suffian Hashim would take several generations to recover and probably this will not happen soon. It is a foregone conclusion what the verdict would be and the appropriate strategy is to vilify the people who should be brought to their knees in the next GE. It is more sensible than fighting a losing battle. We should focus on winning the war against the corrupt regime.

tahaneverest02 said...

Dato,
Whether Anwar Ibrahim goes to jail or not should not make any difference to the peoples' struggle against wide-spread corruption existing in UMNO/BN Govt.We should be more concern in ridding the country from corrupt leaders and misgovernment.Otherwise we will go the way of Greece. No harm in trying out a 02 system Govt after what we had experienced going through a 01 system UMNO/BN Govt.for the past 54 years. If no good, the people can always look again for an another alternative.
